We were established December 2012 in Decorah Iowa. Old Armory BBQ is a casual dining atmosphere with counter service. Smoked meats include beef brisket, pulled pork, baby back ribs, smoked turkey, chicken, and salmon. We offer vegetarian options as well as fun appetizers and burgers. All items are made in house and served fresh daily. Call ahead for catering or large party options.
Our Chef
Matt has been in the culinary arts for 18 years, starting in Ames, Iowa at Iowa State University and then moving to Scottsdale, AZ for 10 years and also cheffing in Newport Beach, California. He has attended The Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley and worked with many great Chefs during those times. He attributes a lot of his experience to Hillstone Restaurants, and M Culinary Concepts both out of the Southwest United States.
He has opened a few restaurants with other investors; La Bocca Pizzaria & Wine Bar in Tempe, Arizona, White Chocolate Grille in Scottsdale, AZ and Victories Restaurant in Fayette, Iowa. He has worked with Chef Michael DiMaria with Michaels Catering in Phoenix, AZ headlining Phoenix Open golf tournament and Barrett Jackson car shows. He is not limited to BBQ cuisine. He also enjoys cooking Asian, Italian, and Mexican.
